Political situation in Thailand
Opposition pauses no-confidence vote against Shinawatra

The Thai opposition will not move forward with its planned no-confidence vote against former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. At least not for the time being, writes AP.

Shinawatra was suspended as prime minister earlier this week by a constitutional court investigating whether she violated the office's ethics guidelines.

Now the opposition says it wants to await the court's investigation.

- I can confirm that all opposition party leaders have discussed the matter and concluded that we will not let politics drive into a dead end, opposition leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut tells Reuters

Taliban rule Situation in Afghanistan
Russia first to recognize Afghanistan's Taliban rule

Russia has accredited a new ambassador from Afghanistan, becoming the first country in the world to recognize the Taliban regime. Reuters reports.

"We believe that the official recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will promote the development of productive bilateral cooperation between our countries in a number of areas," the Russian Foreign Ministry wrote in a statement.

The Taliban took power in 2021 after US forces left the country.

Middle East Crisis US vs Iran
US reportedly planning meeting with Iran in Oslo next week

The US and Iran are expected to resume negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program during a meeting in Oslo next week, three sources told Axios.

According to the information, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. An exact date has not yet been set, and neither Iran nor the US want to comment on the information.

Iran broke off talks with the US after the US attacks on Iran's nuclear program. A key issue when the talks resume is what has happened to Iran's 400 kilograms of uranium, which is enriched to 60 percent.

Musk vs Trump
Musk regrets the chainsaw: "Lacked empathy"

Elon Musk regrets swinging a chainsaw during a conference earlier this year, several media outlets report. On X, Musk admits that the behavior in retrospect "lacked empathy."

The post was a response to a critical post that Musk would have gotten more done if he hadn't been so keen on appearing cool.

“Good point,” Musk writes, explaining that he didn’t think much of it when he received the chainsaw from Argentine President Javier Milei. The chainsaw later became a symbol of the federal cuts the tech billionaire made on behalf of the Trump administration.

Musk rarely backs down from public statements, Business Insider writes, describing this as a shift in his rhetoric. Since leaving the White House, his relationship with President Trump has deteriorated, and he has become one of the more vocal opponents of the president’s spending legislation.
