A total of five explosions have rocked the city in connection with the new attacks.

At least one person has died and several have been injured.

On Monday morning, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to new Russian attacks. The city's mayor, Vitaly Klitschko, writes on social media that a total of 28 drones flew in the direction of Kyiv during the morning.

A total of five explosions have hit the city, the mayor says.

"Thanks to our defense force and our air defense, most of the flying terrorists were shot down," he writes on Twitter.

After the explosions, the emergency services in the city worked to put out the fires that broke out in connection with the explosions.

"Several residential buildings have been damaged. Healthcare is on site. We are in the process of clarifying information about the injured," Klitschko wrote earlier.

At least one person has died in connection with the attacks. Three people have had to be taken to hospital and more people are believed to be trapped under the riots.

The attacks are said to have been carried out with the help of "kamikaze drones", reports AFP and refers to a statement from Andrei Yermak, chief of staff of the Ukrainian president.

Ukraine has previously reported that some Russian attacks are carried out using Shahed 136 drones manufactured in Iran. Iran denies supplying weapons to Russia.

It is unclear whether the attacks on Monday were carried out with the Iranian kamikaze drones.

Reuters news agency reports that the area attacked was subjected to a similar Russian attack on Monday.
