Frederiksen's ball – wants to govern with four parties
S leader Mette Frederiksen is given the exploratory mission in Denmark, Danish media report. The announcement comes after attempts to form a minority conservative government collapsed this week.
Frederiksen promises that intensive negotiations are expected as early as Sunday. She does not want to say when she thinks it will be possible to get a government in place, but assures the Danes that it will not take another 60 days.
Her goal is to form a mixed government consisting of the Social Democrats, the Radical Left, the Socialist People's Party and the conservative Moderates.
– There will certainly be problems along the way.
Left-wing leader: Will be a red government – sad
The cooperation between the Danish conservative parties went well – until the Moderates' Lars Løkke Rasmussen got in the way. This is what Left party leader Troels Lund Poulsen tells Danish TV2.
The conservative parties admitted at the end of the week that they had failed in their government negotiations. Today the king will decide who will get the next chance to form a government. Troels Lund Poulsen says he is convinced that it will end with Løkke Rasmussen letting a left-wing government come to power.
– It will be sad for Denmark, but it is his choice, he says.
