Five police officers and a child killed in Gaza

Five police officers and a child were killed in Israeli strikes in the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to the Gaza Defense Authority.

In addition to the six dead, "a certain number were injured" after the airstrike targeted a police station in the Hamas-controlled area.

The Shifa hospital in Gaza City confirmed that it had received six bodies, including a child born in 2011.

An AFP correspondent at the scene saw at least three bodies wrapped in white cloth.

An Israeli military source told AFP that the army was targeting "Hamas terrorists" in the area.

There has been a ceasefire in Gaza since October last year, but Israel reserves the right to attack targets it deems a threat. Despite the ceasefire, Israel attacks the Gaza Strip on a regular basis.
