US intelligence chief resigns

US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard is resigning, Fox News reports, referring to her resignation letter.

According to the television channel, the reason for the resignation is that she wants to support her husband, who has been diagnosed with severe cancer.

Gabbard reportedly informed President Donald Trump of her decision on Friday and will formally leave her post at the end of the year.

In a comment on Truth Social, Trump confirms that he has received her resignation.

"Tulsi has done an incredible job, we will miss her," he writes.

The White House forced Tulsi Gabbard out of the role of US intelligence chief, a source told Reuters.

According to the source, there are several things that have created friction in Washington. Among them is Gabbard's publication last year of a list of people who had their security clearances revoked, which led to the exposure of a CIA agent who had been working under a secret identity.

“The White House has been unhappy with her for quite some time,” says the anonymous informant.
