US-Cuba relations

Expert believes media leak was planted: “Would be suicide”

Media reports that Cuba has purchased hundreds of Iranian and Russian drones and is considering using them against the US were leaked on purpose. That is what defense researcher Brian Fonseca believes.

He tells the Wall Street Journal that the US is building a narrative that can justify a military escalation, and that a militarily weak Cuba would never strike the US except in defense.

– That would be suicide.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said as recently as Thursday that Cuba poses a threat, while his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez believes that the US wants to incite a conflict.

Havana resident Lucia: We are caught between two psychopaths

The US blockade of Cuba has worsened the electricity shortage and many now have no power for more than a few hours a day. At the same time, the Cuban government is silencing all critical voices. This is reported by ABC.

Lucia, who lives in Havana, describes the situation as “being caught between two psychopaths”. She hopes it can be resolved without an American invasion.

– I really don’t want the US to come here. I don’t think they really care about democracy or freedom. I think they have other interests.

Marco Rubio: Cuba poses a threat to the US

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that Cuba poses a threat to the US, writes CNN.

The chance that the situation can be resolved through diplomatic channels is also, according to Rubio, small.

– I’m just being completely honest. The likelihood of that happening, given who we’re dealing with, is not high.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez calls the claims that the country is a threat to the US lies. He believes that the White House is trying to incite a war.
