One of the myths of Thai royalism is that the monarch is always ready to listen to the people and respond to their concerns.
Royalists say a famous inscription from the Sukhothai kingdom more than 700 years ago shows that the monarchy has always helped people when asked. 1/3
In fact, it is probable that the inscription was faked by King Mongkut in the 19th century, but that’s a whole other story. Today, thousands of Thais who want democracy marched to the Grand Palace to deliver letters to King Vajiralongkorn. 2/3
But the king has no interest in hearing what they have to say, and instead of being welcomed they faced riot police, barricades and water cannons.
It’s just another fairytale that the king cares about the people. #ม็อบ8พฤศจิกา 3/3
