An unknown object has been shot down over Lake Huron in the USA - the third case in three days
The American military has shot down an unknown object at a high altitude over Lake Huron in the United States on the border with Canada, several media reports. According to the Wall Street Journal, the object was shaped like an octagon and traveled at an altitude of roughly 6,000 meters.
US authorities closed the airspace over nearby Lake Michigan on Sunday evening. Other information was scarce - but the authority referred to national security.
Sunday's shooting down is the fourth since last weekend, when the US discovered what it described as a Chinese "spy balloon". In the last two days, objects have been shot down over Canada and Alaska.
Earlier on Sunday, the Democratic majority leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, spoke out and said that US authorities believe that it was balloons even then.
