"Unidentified object" has been shot down over Alaska
The United States has shot down an "unidentified object" over Alaska, according to AFP. The object was significantly smaller than the Chinese spy balloon, about the size of a small car. This is stated by John Kirby, spokesperson for the US National Security Council, according to AP.
- The object flew at an altitude of 12,000 meters and posed a danger to civil aviation, John Kirby said at a press conference in the White House on Friday evening, according to NBC.
He stated that President Joe Biden, on the advice of the Pentagon, made the decision to shoot down the object with a fighter jet. It then fell into US territorial waters, where the defense hopes to fish it out.

Sources: The US blacklists more Chinese companies after the balloon
The White House will soon put more Chinese companies on the US blacklist, citing links to the military's global balloon spying program. That is according to sources for Bloomberg.
An announcement could come as early as tonight.
The action comes after Republican criticism that President Biden waited so long to shoot down the Chinese balloon that violated US airspace for a week.
The blacklist is about export controls that require special permits for American companies to sell equipment to the Chinese companies on the list.

Russian revenge for sanctions - oil production is cut
Russia goes on the offensive against Western sanctions and lowers its oil production by 500,000 barrels daily in March, TT reports. It is mainly the price ceiling on oil that disturbs the market, emphasizes the country's Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak.
"Russia considers the price ceiling on Russian oil to be an intervention in the market mechanisms and an extension of the destructive energy policy in the Western world," he said in a statement on Friday.
The price of both Brent and WTI oil rises by roughly 3 percent after the announcement.

The government of Moldova is resigning, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita announced according to AP. At a press conference, Gavrilita refers to the many crises her EU-friendly government has dealt with since Russia launched the large-scale offensive against Ukraine last February.
Among the problems mentioned are the energy crisis and sky-high inflation, but also that robots from the war in neighboring Ukraine have passed through Moldovan airspace on several occasions, most recently today. In the past, the pro-Russian opposition in the country has been accused of trying to take advantage of the crises.
The intelligence service in Moldova confirmed yesterday that it has information that Russia is trying to destabilize the country.
