Tourists collapse in the monster heat - 45 degrees are expected in Italy
The windy heat wave in Italy has been named Cerberus, after the three-headed monster that guards the gates of hell in Dante's "Inferno". On Friday, temperatures between 40 and 45 degrees are expected in parts of the country.
- The earth has a high fever and Italy feels it, says Luca Mercalli, head of the Italian Meteorological Institute, to CNN.
On Tuesday, a 44-year-old road worker died after collapsing in the heat during a shift. There are continuous reports from Rome of tourists collapsing from heat stroke. In an attempt to alleviate the health effects, the capital has, among other things, set up cooling stations where free water is distributed.
Spain is also currently enduring the extreme heat. As early as 06:00 on Wednesday morning, over 100 weather stations in the country registered temperatures above 35 degrees, writes AP.

Anyone who mends their clothes gets a bonus in France
France is launching a new bonus system to encourage its residents to repair worn clothes and shoes instead of buying new ones, reports Le Monde. The government invests EUR 154 million in discounts on repairs over five years.
In order to promote more sustainable fashion, France has also decided that the clothing industry must provide information on the environmental impact of clothing on each garment. For example, it must be stated what amount of water was required to manufacture the garment and what chemicals were used in the process.
