Analysis: Confiscated UFOs made up or the biggest news
UFO enthusiasts have been in a frenzy since an American, self-proclaimed whistleblower, named David Grusch, claimed that the US military had seized extraterrestrial craft, writes Forbes' Dani Di Placido.
But Di Placido does not give much for the claims presented by Grusch, which will be presented to the politicians in the US House of Representatives on Wednesday.
He bases that assessment on the absence of evidence. But also on its own logic:
"If you assume that extraterrestrial life forms are so advanced that they can build craft capable of space travel, why do they crash like drunk teenagers?"
Dagens Nyheter's news reporter Clas Svahn, who in addition to his work is also chairman of Ufo Sweden, has chosen a more open attitude to Grusch's information in an analysis.
"If it turns out to be true, this is the biggest news in world history," he wrote in an analysis in early June.
Intelligence Officer
Grusch: We're definitely not alone
He is the intelligence officer who claimed that the US had seized craft from extraterrestrial civilizations. On Wednesday, David Grusch will be questioned in the US House of Representatives. He is then expected to maintain that his claims are taken from his time in a unit of the military that worked on this very thing.
- We are definitely not alone. Absolutely, all the data points to us, empirically, not being alone, Grusch has previously said, including in an interview with Newsnation.
He is also said to have submitted "evidence" for his claims. However, no evidence has been shown to the public. And that is not expected to happen during Wednesday's question time in the House of Representatives, according to The Guardian.
However, one of the people responsible for the investigation, Republican Tim Burchett, says he is not worried about the lack of concrete evidence:
- More people believe in UFOs than in Congress.

The American UFO Debate
UFOs on the political agenda: What does the US know?
Next week, members of the US House of Representatives will be updated on an investigation into whether flying saucers have been discovered on Earth, writes The Guardian.
The questioning has been initiated since a former intelligence employee claimed that the US defense has both "intact" and "partially intact" extraterrestrial craft in its custody.
The two Republicans appointed to lead the UFO investigation, Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna, both seem convinced that the claim is true, but claim that government officials have so far been reluctant to cooperate with them.
- We will get to the bottom of this, dammit. Whatever truth may consist of. There must be an end to the cover-up, says Burchett.
