This year's celebration of Victory Day in Moscow will be completely different compared to last year. Then things went badly on the battlefield in Ukraine - now Russia is holding the baton and making several advances at the front, writes the Washington Post in a report.
Just in time for Victory Day, which is celebrated on May 9 to commemorate the end of World War II, a month-long exhibition has been inaugurated in Moscow. The exhibition boasts of military equipment captured on the battlefield.
Over 30 military products are on display, including American tanks and artillery, German Leopard tanks, as well as British military vehicles such as the Husky and Mastiff. Small national flags show where all the material comes from. Dozens of red flags with the word "Victory" wave next to the spoils of war.
Propaganda messages can also be seen on signs around the exhibition.
"Our victory is inevitable," the signs read.

Russia makes progress in the east - several villages taken
Russia has made clear progress on the front in recent days and has captured several villages in eastern Ukraine, writes the ISW think tank in its latest report.
ISW has seen images showing Russian troops taking the village of Archanhelske in the Donetsk region, leading to the conclusion that Russia also controls the villages of Keramik and Novokalynove.
The think tank makes the assessment that Russia is trying to strike while the iron is hot. They now have a window to make advances before the US arms deliveries arrive and are ready to be used. This also affects Ukraine's tactical considerations, writes ISW.
"Ukrainian forces may have decided to trade space for time, while waiting for US supplies to the front - a reasonable decision for an ill-equipped army."
