Document: Hamas created whistleblower society in Gaza

Hamas has a secret police force that conducts surveillance on dissidents, journalists and ordinary citizens. This is reported by the New York Times with reference to documents seized by the Israeli military during the war.

The police force relies on tipsters and informants in Gaza to compile personal files on a large number of citizens. The files contain information that people participated in protests against Hamas, or publicly criticized the terrorist group.

In some cases, the police authority has shadowed people they suspected of having extramarital affairs.

The police agency is believed to have obeyed directly under Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Its status today, following Israel's invasion of Gaza, is not known

International UN employee killed in attack in Rafah

A UN employee has been killed in an attack on an aid convoy in Rafah, Gaza, according to a statement from the organization. Another person is said to have been injured.

The employees must have been traveling in a clearly marked UN vehicle when they met.

It is the first time that one of the UN's international employees has been killed since the war began on 7 October. Around 190 Palestinian UN employees are believed to have been killed.

According to Haaretz, terrorist-branded Hamas has singled out Israel as responsible for the attack. Israel has yet to comment.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemns the attack and calls for a full investigation.
