The EU and Great Britain meet - must "restore" the relationship
In a plan to "restore" relations after Brexit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met on Wednesday for a first meeting. This is reported by international media.
Starmer has said there is no plan to try to rejoin the EU but has promised to warm relations.
- We are determined to take this relationship back to a stable basis, Starmer said before the meeting.
von der Leyen has previously told Starmer that "Dear Keir, in these very uncertain times, like-minded partners like us must work together more closely".

Macron: The EU can die - radical changes are required
The EU must radically increase its competitiveness against China and the US, otherwise the Union risks its demise. This is what French President Emmanuel Macron warns about during a speech in Berlin, reports Bloomberg.
- The EU can die. Our previous model is not working – we are over-regulating and under-investing. If we continue like this for the next two to three years, we will be out of the market, he says.
China and the USA outclass the EU in both production rate and investment. To become competitive again, Europe needs to create a banking union and make international trade rules fairer, according to Macron.
