The French government is expected to be overthrown by the opposition
French Prime Minister Michel Barnier is pushing through the government's social security budget in parliament without a vote, with the support of article 49.3 of the constitution, French media reports.
Left-wing leader Mathilde Panot says her party bloc will face a no-confidence vote, and the far-right National Gathering party says they will vote yes.
Together they have enough votes to bring down Barnier's minority government.
According to France 24, the vote could be held on Wednesday at the earliest.
Bardella: Only a miracle can save the French government
The French far-right National Assembly is threatening to back the no-confidence vote against the French government in the coming days.
In an interview with the French radio channel RTL, party leader Jordan Bardella says that there must be a "last minute miracle" for the French government not to be brought down. The background is that Prime Minister Michel Barnier did not want to meet the National Assembly in the budget negotiations.
- Everything that we have proposed in the interest of the French, all the proposals we have put forward in recent weeks, everything has been deliberately ignored, says Bardella in the interview.
