Donald Trump has landed in Washington - celebrated on a golf course
Donald Trump has arrived in the US capital, Washington DC, ahead of his presidential inauguration on Monday, reports the AP.
Together with his wife Melania Trump and their son Barron, he flew from Florida on a government plane named "Special air mission 47", a reference to Trump becoming the country's 47th president when he is sworn in.
The arrival was celebrated at Trump's own golf course in Sterling, Virginia, less than five miles outside Washington DC, with fireworks, among other things.
Trump: Will implement around 100 measures immediately
Donald Trump believes that he will sign a record number of documents to change laws and regulations in the USA immediately after the inauguration on Monday. In an interview with NBC News ahead of the change of power, he says that it involves around 100 measures.
The president-elect has often talked about how much he will get done as the new leader of the United States. He tells the channel that mass deportations, the Middle East and the fires in Los Angeles are high on the agenda for the first week.
“It will start very early and very quickly,” he says of the promised mass deportations.
Regarding the Middle East, Trump says that he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “very soon” and that the US will ensure that the ceasefire in Gaza is respected.
A visit to Los Angeles next week is also expected.
“I was going there yesterday, but I thought it would be better to do it as president,” he says.
