Happy and kind four years ago.
Grim look and trumpish face today.
Donald Trump’s official presidential portraits from 2025 and 2017 look so different.
Donald Trump: “It’s been a political witch hunt”
Ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration as US president on Monday, official portraits of him and Vice President J D Vance have now been published, reports the BBC.
The official photo of Vance from 2025 is similar to the 2017 photo of Trump, in that both look happy and friendly.
The new official photo of Trump is something else entirely: he looks grim and aggressive. The photo is, in fact, a near-copy of the “mugshot” – criminal photo – that was taken of Donald Trump when he surrendered to the Atlanta jail, charged with illegally trying to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The Trump and Vance campaign said in a press release that the portraits show two men who will "go hard" - take the tough guys.
- The stark contrast to his previous, more traditional portraits could mark a shift in his public persona, a focus on a tougher, more aggressive approach as he prepares to take office for a second time, political science professor Quadricos Driskell told the BBC.
