Man convicted of murder of female doctor in India
A 33-year-old man has been convicted of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old female doctor in India, reports the AP.
The murder occurred while the woman was on duty at a hospital in the city of Kolkata in August. The man, who worked as a volunteer at the hospital, was arrested the following day.
The case has received widespread attention and led to protests and hospital strikes across the country.
The sentence will be announced on Monday.

“Hang him, hang him,” the crowd chanted outside the courtroom on Saturday.
The parents of the murdered female doctor believe that more people must be held accountable for the murder.
– A single man could not have caused our daughter to meet such a terrible end. We will feel pain and anguish until all the guilty are punished, says the father, who has chosen to remain anonymous.
