Volvo must manufacture more vehicles in its factory in South Carolina in the US.

This is what Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson says.

Yesterday, the news came about President Donald Trump's new tariffs. The decision means that Volvo Cars must now increase its production there.

- We will need to increase the number of cars we build in the US and probably also move another model to that factory, Samuelsson tells the news agency Bloomberg.

Volvo already manufactures the EX90 and Polestar 3 in its factory near Charleston in South Carolina. Håkan Samuelsson says that they "will have to look carefully" at which other model will also be manufactured there.

This is reported by TT.

Trump's 25 percent tariffs on car imports to the US, which came into effect just after midnight in Washington, are expected to dramatically increase costs and turn supply chains upside down.

It is unclear how the announcement will affect Swedish jobs.

Aftonbladet is looking for representatives for the Volvo Cars workshop club.
