The US had its worst stock market day in five years after Trump's tariff announcement.

But Trump himself is not worried.

- The stock market is going to skyrocket, he told reporters before leaving to watch golf.

The president's positive statement comes despite the panic on the world's stock markets on Thursday.

- It's going very well, you've never seen anything like it. The stock market is going to skyrocket, the country is going to flourish, Trump told reporters as he left Washington on Thursday afternoon.

According to Reuters, Trump is on his way on Air Force One to a golf tournament at his resort in Miami.

Worst day in five years

Wall Street has had its worst day in five years, that is, since the pandemic. The technology-heavy Nasdaq plunged six percent.

And the Stockholm Stock Exchange closed with its worst figures in more than two years.

The stock exchanges in London, Paris and Frankfurt also fell.

Macron promises a strong response

It has been almost a day since Trump made his shock announcement, which includes tariffs of 29 percent on goods from the EU.

And the outside world has begun to respond.

The EU will respond to Trump's tariff announcement with even greater force than before, said French President Emmanuel Macron in connection with a meeting with affected industries.

At the same time, he urged European companies to pause their investments in the United States.

– What kind of message would it give if major European players invested billions in the American economy at the same time as they attacked us, Macron said at the meeting, according to TT.

At the same time, Canada is imposing a 25 percent tariff on cars manufactured in the United States.
