Middle East Crisis Israel vs Iran

US Strengthens Military Presence in Middle East

The US military is sending more fighter jets to the Middle East, several media outlets report. These include F-16, F-22 and F-35 fighter jets, according to Reuters.

Since the fighting between Israel and Iran began last week, the US military presence in the region has increased, leading to questions about whether the US should take an active role in the conflict or not.

On Monday, a large number of tanker aircraft were sent to Europe, while the aircraft carrier Nimitz, with space for 5,000 people and 60 aircraft, changed course to the Middle East.

The US has emphasized that the movements are being made to better defend itself if necessary. On Tuesday evening, sources told Axios that Trump is considering an attack on Iran.

Report: Israel and US at odds over Iranian nuclear weapons

Before Israel attacked Iran last week, it shared intelligence with the US that it believed proved that Iran was trying to acquire nuclear weapons, reports the Wall Street Journal. They claimed, among other things, that Tehran was trying to develop a system to trigger an explosion.

According to the newspaper's sources, the US officials who were given the information were not convinced that the Israeli intelligence was indeed proof of Iranian nuclear ambitions.

US security services still believe that Iran has not made a decision to build nuclear weapons.

Nuclear weapons expert Jeffrey Lewis does not believe that Iran is trying to acquire nuclear weapons but emphasizes that the country is conducting research to keep "the bomb as a possibility".

Sources: Trump Considering Attack on Iran

Donald Trump is considering a US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, sources tell Axios. Three US sources say the US presid3ent will meet with his advisers tonight to discuss what line the US should take in the conflict between Iran and Israel.

Two Israeli sources tell Axios journalist Barak Ravid that the Israeli government believes the US will join the war “in the coming days”.

So far, the US has helped Israel defend itself against Iranian missiles, but has not participated in any offensive battles in the conflict. During the evening, the president wrote on Truth Social that Iran must not attack civilians or US soldiers.

“Our patience is running out”, the statement reads.

Trump returned early from the G7 meeting in Canada and has said during the day that he is not interested in a ceasefire but a "real end" to the war and Iran's nuclear energy program.
