Israeli Sources Believe Trump Willing to “Act”
Israel is convinced that Donald Trump will “act” against Iran if the country does not give in and accept American demands regarding its nuclear program. This is stated by sources for Israel’s Channel 12.
“Our assessment is that Trump will not blink,” says a source.
The source describes it as a “win-win” situation where Iran either capitulates to the demands or Trump “acts” against Tehran.
The White House’s demand is that Iran must not have any uranium enrichment.
Any American involvement in the war between Israel and Iran revolves around the Iranian nuclear facility Fordow, which can most likely only be knocked out with American ammunition.
Civilians suffer as bombs fall: “Were covered in blood”
At least 657 Iranians, 263 of them civilians, have died in Israeli strikes since the attacks began last week, the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reported, according to AFP.
Nasrin, a 39-year-old Tehran resident, was at home when the capital was attacked, and recounts how she was thrown into a wall and lost consciousness.
“When I woke up, I was covered in blood.”
Meanwhile, 25 Israelis have been killed in Iranian attacks, according to the news agency. Omer, a Tel Aviv resident, says it is tiring to live under the constant threat of new attacks.
“In the middle of the night, we have to wake the children up and take them to the shelter.”
Israel says it has shot down 99 percent of the drones used by Iran to attack, the Times of Israel reports.
Gabbard backtracks on criticism: “I agree with the president”
US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard backtracks on her nuclear weapons statement, claiming that Iran could have nuclear weapons “within weeks”. The BBC reports.
During a congressional hearing in March, Gabbard said that Iran had the means to produce a nuclear weapon but that they did not want to build one. She now believes that statement has been taken out of context by “dishonest media”. Several media outlets have since reported that a rift has arisen between her and Donald Trump precisely because of her statements. CNN writes that the president sees her as “off message” because she does not follow the administration’s line.
In a post on social media, Gabbard now writes that Iran could produce weapons “within weeks or months”.
“President Trump has been clear that this cannot happen, and I agree”, the post continues.
However, intelligence reports from the United States have long indicated that Iran is still several years away from creating nuclear weapons.
