Trump's USA

Conflict with universities
The US now allows foreign students to apply for visas

The US Department of State said on Wednesday that it is resuming the visa process for foreign students, the AP news agency reports. However, students must agree to have their social media accounts reviewed.

According to the department, authorities will monitor posts and messages to determine if there is any threat to the US, the government or institutions in the country.

Last month, the Trump administration announced that it was temporarily halting visa interviews for foreign students.

Politicians' actions in Minnesota
Senator's criticism: Trump has contributed to the violence

Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota was on Vance Boelter's list of Democrats he planned to shoot. When she woke up on Sunday, she learned that her friend and colleague, Melissa Hortman and her husband, had been shot dead in their home.

Smith now tells the New York Times that the political rhetoric that President Donald Trump is using has contributed to a “toxic atmosphere.”

“I think it’s driven by the president’s willingness to use violent rhetoric and that he encourages others to use violence on his behalf,” she says.

Kashmir conflict
Modi blasts Trump’s claims: Didn’t mediate at all

It was not Donald Trump who brokered peace between India and Pakistan, as he himself claimed. That’s what Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, according to Reuters.

An armed conflict that lasted four days broke out between India and Pakistan in May after a mass shooting in Kashmir. A peace was reached after direct talks between the militaries of the two parties, but Donald Trump claimed that the United States was involved in mediating it. India has previously denied this.

“Modi told Trump that during this period there were no talks at all about either a trade deal between India and the US or any US mediation between India and Pakistan,” said India’s Foreign Minister, Vikram Misri, in a press release.

The Kashmir conflict – this is what happened

  • Four gunmen shot dead 26 tourists and injured over 30 in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.

  • Pakistan responded by giving the military the go-ahead for countermeasures and stated that 33 people had been killed in fighting since May 6.
  • Both countries agreed to a pause in the fighting on May 10 but have accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
  • The Swedish Foreign Ministry advised against travel to Kashmir and the border areas due to the deteriorating security situation after the attacks.
