Starlink is down – affects the Ukrainian military

Space X internet service Starlink is down worldwide, several media outlets report.

“We are working on a solution. We appreciate your patience and will return when the problem is resolved,” the company writes on X.

“The service will be restored soon. Sorry for the interruption. Space X will fix the root cause so that it does not happen again,” adds CEO Elon Musk.

The Ukrainian military, which uses Starlink, reports according to Ukrainian Pravda that the system is down along the entire front.

Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least five people overnight Thursday, AFP reports. A couple and their adult son were killed in a village in the Kharkiv region late Wednesday and two women were killed in the Donetsk region on Thursday.

Four people were injured in the port city of Odessa in the southern part of the country. A famous market building, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was also damaged and caught fire. The Pryvoz market is almost 200 years old and is seen as an important symbol of the city.

“Pryvoz is not just a market. It is the heart of Odessa,” Ukraine’s state rescue service said in a statement, according to Kyiv Post.

Kremlin: Difficulties with new meeting in August

Russia finds it difficult to see how its President Vladimir Putin would meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelenskyj again before the end of August. This was stated in a statement by the Kremlin, Reuters reports, citing the Russian state news agency RIA.

After the countries’ third round of talks in Istanbul, which is said to have lasted less than an hour, a Ukrainian delegate stated that Ukraine had proposed a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyj in August. In that case, it would fall within the 50-day deadline that US President Donald Trump set last week for an agreement between the countries.

Trump has threatened new sanctions against Russia and against buyers of Russian exports unless an agreement is reached by early September.
