Middle East Crisis Doha Attack

Fractious summit in Qatar wants to review ties with Israel

A number of Muslim and Arab countries are calling for a review of all “diplomatic and economic” relations with Israel, writes TT. The statement came after an extraordinary summit in Qatar on Monday, in response to Israel’s attack on Hamas targets in Doha last week.

However, the nearly 60 countries disagreed on much and the joint statement is described by the AP as the minimum possible action. Countries that see Israel as their enemy (such as Iran) condemned the attack, while nations that have diplomatic recognition agreements with Israel were reluctant to sever these ties.

Starmer in talks with Qatar: “Unacceptable attack”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed Israel’s “unacceptable attack on Doha” in a video call with leaders from Qatar on Monday, writes Sky News, citing Downing Street.

The video call was also held with leaders from Jordan, Egypt, France and Canada.

“They discussed Israel’s unacceptable attack on Doha last week and agreed that they must redouble their efforts to achieve peace and a long-term solution that can break the spiral of violence in the region,” the press release said.
