Maduro: US is fabricating war

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro claims that the US is “fabricating a war”.

– They are fabricating a new eternal war – they promised they would never again be involved in a war, and they are fabricating a war that we will prevent, says Maduro.

The statement comes after it emerged that the US is sending an aircraft carrier to Latin America, which is another escalation in terms of US military reinforcement in the region.

In recent weeks, the US has carried out a number of attacks on so-called drug boats, mainly off the coast of Venezuela, where a total of over 40 people have been killed. Washington describes the procedure as combating drug trafficking.

US President Donald Trump recently gave the CIA the go-ahead to carry out covert operations inside Venezuela, part of the US's attempt to put pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
