Russian Invasion Sanctions

Putin's envoy: Higher gas prices await US

Sanctions and other "unfriendly actions" will have no effect on the Russian economy, claims Putin's economic envoy Kirill Dmitriyev, who traveled to the United States for talks. This is reported by the independent Moscow Times.

He adds that the consequences of the sanctions will be felt at the gas pump for ordinary Americans.

- The price of oil has already risen and will continue to rise, he says, according to state media.

Dmitriyev also repeats the Kremlin's usual talking points that Britain and the rest of Europe are sabotaging Ukraine's negotiations with Russia because they want the war to continue.

Dmitriyev, who heads the Russian state investment fund RDIF, is to meet with the Trump administration to discuss "the future of Russian-American relations".

After Sanctions: Putin Sends Envoy to US

Russia's top economic envoy Kirill Dmitriyev has traveled to the United States for "official talks," sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN. The visit comes just days after President Donald Trump imposed new sanctions on Russia's two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.

According to Axios, Dmitriyev is scheduled to meet with White House envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami on Saturday. According to sources, the Russians want to resume planning for a meeting between Trump and Putin in Budapest.

Dmitriyev has long been one of Moscow's leading advocates for closer economic relations with the United States. He is educated at Harvard and Stanford and has previously worked at McKinsey and Goldman Sachs. In April, he became the Kremlin's first representative to visit Washington, DC, since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
