Trump's USA  Tensions in the Caribbean
Report: CIA behind intelligence for attacks

The US's deadly attacks on boats in the Caribbean Sea are based on intelligence information that is mostly collected by the CIA, sources tell The Guardian. According to the newspaper's information, it is intelligence collected in real time via satellites and signals intelligence that forms the basis for assessing which boats are believed to be loaded with drugs.

The fact that the information is collected by the CIA means that it will probably never reach the public, experts say.

- They have a lot of exceptions in the law, says Mark Lowenthal, a former CIA analyst.

Trump's USA The indictments against Trump
Sources: Department demands two billion from Trump

Donald Trump is demanding the Department of Justice the equivalent of over 2.1 billion kronor as compensation for what he believes are privacy violations during previous criminal investigations, sources tell The New York Times.

This includes the investigation into Russian influence in connection with the 2016 election and the raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence when the authorities searched for classified documents.

The newspaper writes that people who previously defended Trump or are part of his circle, and now work at the department, could be the ones who make decisions about the compensation claims.

An obvious ethical conflict, according to Bennett L Gershman, a professor of law.

- It's bizarre and almost too absurd to believe.

Political situation in Japan

Promise of a Nordic-inspired Japanese cabinet did not keep

Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has appointed his ministers and two more women will take their places in the government. Takaichi has campaigned to get as large a proportion of women as the Nordic countries, but that did not happen, writes Reuters.

Satsuki Katayama will be finance minister and Kimi Onoda will be minister of economic security. This means that the proportion of women is 16 percent, while the proportion in the Nordic countries varies between 36 and 61 percent.

No shock, according to gender researcher Yoko Otsuka.

– A female prime minister might improve Japan's ranking on the gender equality index slightly, but the reality hardly changes.

NATO chief on his way to meet Trump in Washington

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte traveled to Washington on Tuesday for a meeting with US President Donald Trump, the organization announced in a statement.

No details were given about what they are expected to discuss.

A NATO meeting was recently held in Brussels where, among other things, the Purl initiative was discussed, which involves NATO countries buying military equipment from the US and then supplying it to Ukraine.

After reports that military support to Ukraine had decreased sharply during the summer, more NATO countries promised to contribute more.
