The security situation in Europe would worsen without US help, according to Sanna Marin.

Finland's prime minister wants to see a better European defense after the threats from Vladimir Putin.

- I will be brutally honest, Europe is not strong enough, she says.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin doubts that Europe would be as secure without help from the United States. During the visit to Sydney, she talked about the security situation after Vladimir Putin's war of aggression in Ukraine.

- We should make sure to get stronger. I will be brutally honest, Europe is not strong enough. We would have problems, she says according to The Guardian.

Sanna Marin talked about Ukraine having to get "everything it takes" to be able to prevent the Russian advance. She also took the opportunity to praise the United States and highlighted the arms deliveries and economic aid packages that Joe Biden was behind.

- We have to make sure that we build up our capabilities in terms of European defense, the European defense industry and make sure that we can cope in different types of situations, she says.

"Prepared for hybrid attacks"

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, the security situation in Finland has deteriorated. Sanna Marin was asked what the most likely scenario is when it comes to Russian threats against Finland.

- We have extensive military forces, so we don't expect them to do anything there. And we see no military movements near the Finnish border. But of course we are prepared for different types of hybrid attacks that can happen, she says.

She also talked about the economic relationship that Europe has had with Russia for a long time, which included the import of Russian energy.

- We thought it would prevent a war.

She admitted that that tactic was completely wrong.

- They don't care about financial ties, they don't care about sanctions. They don't care about any of that, says Sanna Marin.
