Half of the Kyiv region may be without power for several days
About half of the Kyiv region may remain without power in the coming days after yesterday's Russian attacks. This is what regional governor Oleksij Kuleba writes on Telegram.
The capital seems to have coped relatively well, but the surrounding parts of the region were hit all the harder, writes Reuters.
Other parts of the country were also affected by the robot attacks. Water and electricity supplies have been cut off in the Odesa region and in the city of Kramatorsk, 370 apartment buildings are without heat due to power cuts. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday evening that in several regions it was necessary to introduce emergency shutdowns to stabilize the electricity grid.
Bitter EU fight delays massive loan to Ukraine: "Hungary must back down"
Hungary has not yet been convinced by the other EU countries to say yes to a joint loan to Ukraine of 18 billion euros next year. At the same time, the European Commission's proposal to freeze the EU contribution to Hungary of 7.5 billion euros remains, reports several media.
Zbynek Stanjura, Minister of Finance in the Czech Republic, who today holds the presidency of the Council of Ministers, says that they will not be "dissuaded" and believes that there is hope for payments to Ukraine without Hungarian participation.
After the new year, Sweden will hold the presidency of the EU, and Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) then hopes for renewed discussion.
- It is a negotiation game where our focus is that Ukraine will have its money and Hungary must back down, she tells TT.

Tanker congestion off the coast of Turkey after the price cap
Turkey requires oil tankers passing through Turkish waters to show papers that they are fully insured. It has now created a traffic jam with nearly 20 ships at anchor. This is reported by the Financial Times.
The demand comes after the West imposed a price cap on Russian oil, which prohibits insurers from insuring ships unless the oil is sold below $60. But according to information, Russian insurance companies have assisted the ships with papers - so it is primarily ships with insurance from the West that have been affected.
According to the newspaper, this is the first indication that the sanctions could disrupt the global supply of oil beyond the sanctioned Russian oil.
The organization that represents insurance companies, which cover about 90 percent of the global fleet, believes that the Turkish demands go beyond the norm and have not been able to meet the information requirements.

Source: Was Ukraine behind air base attacks
Ukraine was behind the explosions at two Russian air bases on Monday, tens of miles beyond the Russian-Ukrainian border. This is stated by a high-ranking Ukrainian source to the New York Times, although Kyiv has not officially claimed responsibility for the attacks.
According to the source, unmanned drones were used that took off from Ukrainian soil, while in at least one of the attacks, Ukrainian special forces were located near the base to guide the drone.
The Kremlin has accused Ukraine of using Soviet-made drones that Russian forces shot down, the impact of which damaged two planes and killed three people at one of the bases.
