The fountain in Rome turned black during climate action
Climate
demonstrators from the group Ultima Generazione (last generation) have
on Sunday carried out a climate demonstration at the world-famous Trevi
Fountain in Rome, La Repubblica reports.
The
demonstrators poured coal into the fountain, whose water was dyed
black, and held up a banner with the slogan "We will not pay for fossil
fuels". They also allegedly shouted "Our country is dying".
In a statement, the group linked the deadly floods in northern Italy to the use of fossil fuels.
The action was stopped when uniformed police stepped into the fountain and lifted them away.
