The city of Bachmut is more or less wiped out.  

But there are many twists and turns about who controls the city. 

Now President Zelenskyi has reversed: 

- Bachmut is not occupied. 

In the last month, Russian and Ukrainian statements have been exchanged at a high rate about who controls the Ukrainian city of Bachmut. And this weekend the bids have intensified.  

This morning from the G7 meeting in Hiroshima, Japan, President Zelensky was asked if the city is in "Ukraine's hands". The answer was that he didn't think so.  

To then change his mind towards lunchtime. Then he said that Bachmut is not occupied by Russia.  

And shortly after lunch, the Ukrainian colonel of the East Ukrainian group, Serhiy Cherevaty, stated that they had advanced 200 meters.

This weekend's offer on Bachmut  

The weekend's many bids began yesterday when Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his paramilitaries had taken Bachmut. According to him, the same group has taken the city once before - then on the Russian Peace Day, May 9 - which they did not do.  

After the Wagner group's announcement, Putin thanked the group for the work to "liberate" Bachmut. And on Saturday evening, the Russian Ministry of Defense came out and confirmed the information.  

During the night of Sunday, Ukraine denied the information that Bachmut is under Russian control. - Fierce battles are going on in Bachmut.  

The situation is critical, said the country's Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar on Telegram.  

Information that is now confirmed by Zelenskyj, according to Sky News.
