For the third day in a row, a global heat record is reached
The Earth's average temperature stayed at global record levels for the third day in a row, AP reports. Wednesday's global average temperature was 17.18 degrees Celsius, according to the climate analysis carried out by the American University of Maine.
This ties Tuesday's record temperature, which is the warmest global average temperature ever measured. It is 0.17 degrees warmer than the record set on Monday.
The cause of the unusually high global temperatures are the heat waves that are taking place in several places. According to scientists, climate change is behind the heat waves, in combination with the El Niño weather phenomenon.

EU: Warmest June ever recorded globally
June was the warmest June month ever recorded, according to the EU's climate agency Copernicus according to AFP. The global temperature in June was 0.5 degrees Celsius above the average for the years 1991–2020.
"It exceeds June 2019 - the previous record - by a large margin," writes Copernicus in a statement.
The reason for the record temperature is considered to be climate change, which has accelerated the increase in heat in the oceans, in combination with the El Niño weather phenomenon.
