Twitter threatens to sue Meta for new Threads
Twitter threatens to sue Meta after launch of challenger Threads.
That's what the Semafor site writes. Meta is accused of recruiting former Twitter employees with access to trade secrets, and of creating a "copycat" of the app.
In a letter signed by Twitter's lawyer Alex Spiro, they attack CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
"Twitter has serious suspicions that Meta has engaged in systematic, intentional and illegal misappropriation of Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property rights," the letter states.
Threads was launched on Thursday in over 100 countries, including the US, and is described as a "text-based conversational app" that largely resembles Twitter.

Analysis: "Threads are a fever dream - child's play for Meta"
The first reactions after the launch of the "Twitter killer" Threads are predominantly positive. The Guardian's Kari Paul is impressed by the app's ease of use.
"Using Threads felt like a fever dream, where Twitter and Instagram had a gifted child together," writes Paul.
SvD's tech analyst Björn Jeffery believes that two things speak for Threads: Meta's timing - Elon Musk is more vulnerable than in many years - and the company's enormous resources. "Technically, Threads is child's play for Meta," he writes.
Twitter is now under great pressure, but far from close to being replaced. So far, Threads lacks the tools that provide a sense of context, such as hashtags, writes Bloomberg's David Lee.
