The UN chief condemns Israel's "excessive violence" in Jenin
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sharply criticizes Israel's military after the large-scale raid in Jenin on the West Bank earlier this week, writes TT.
In connection with a press meeting on Thursday, Guterres highlighted, among other things, that over 100 civilians were injured in the operation, and that the injured were prevented from receiving care.
- I strongly condemn all forms of violence against civilians, including terrorist acts. It involves all forms of excessive force and obviously Israeli forces used excessive force in this situation.
Furthermore, the UN chief said he understands Israel's "legitimate concern" after several deadly attacks targeting Israelis. But escalating the conflict is not the answer, he added.
