Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the hard-hit region of Kharkiv on Thursday, Reuters reports.
In recent days, Russia has advanced several kilometers into the north-eastern region and in the course of its advance has taken control of several communities. Zelensky hopes his visit will boost morale among the soldiers trying to stop the Russian advance.
- It is an extremely difficult situation, says the president after a meeting with several military leaders.
Ukraine said late Wednesday that fighting was taking place near Kupyansk, about 85 kilometers from the regional capital Kharkiv.
