Sources: EU votes yes to tariffs on Chinese electric cars

The EU has decided to impose tariffs of up to 45 percent on electric vehicles manufactured in China, international media and sources with transparency report. The measure aims to counter what the EU describes as unfair Chinese subsidies, something China denies.

The tariffs will apply for five years and could reach 35.3 percent, on top of the existing 10 percent, according to the Financial Times.

Ten voted in favor, while Germany and four others voted against. Sweden chose to cast its vote in the vote.

Gasoline prices rise as revenge is in the air

The petrol price is raised by 30 öre a liter as analysts hold their breath as to whether Israel will direct its retaliation against Iran's oil industry, writes TT.

On Thursday, when Biden said such plans were being discussed, world market prices rose sharply.

The increases mean a petrol price of SEK 17.09 and SEK 17.24 respectively, according to the recommended prices at manned stations.

Volvo confirms: Discussions about customs duties with the EU are ongoing

The discussions between Volvo Cars and the EU Commission about a so-called price commitment continue after today's announcement about increased EU tariffs for Chinese electric cars. Volvo Cars confirms this in a comment to TT.

"The commission has offered to continue the discussions with all parties that have submitted proposals for price commitments," the company writes in a comment.

Volvo Cars further states that "it is at the commission's disposal to answer questions", but does not want to comment on the issue more than that at the moment.

Lithuania buys Saab's air defenses for over SEK 1 billion

Defense giant Saab has received an order from Lithuania for the MSHORAD short-range mobile air defense system. The order value amounts to SEK 1.2 billion with deliveries planned from 2026 to 2029, according to a press release.

- We are proud to continue supporting the Lithuanian defense, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business area Dynamics, in the press release.
