Expert: Sheinbaum needs to control the media narrative
Claudia Sheinbaum's first day as Mexican president began with a press conference early in the morning, AP writes. The news agency writes that her predecessor Andrés Manuel López Obrador began the majority of his days by meeting the media.
It often developed into confrontational and "marathon-long" events of up to two and a half hours. But it was a powerful political weapon for the charismatic president and helped him achieve high approval ratings.
Opinion director Roy Campos says that even Sheinbaum's confidence numbers depend on how she performs in front of the cameras.
- We'll see if her daily press meetings will give her control over the media's agenda.
