Hospitals in Lebanon stop operations after attacks

One of Israel's airstrikes against Lebanon on Friday struck a few meters from the entrance to the hospital in Marjayoun. Hospital manager Mounes Klakesh tells Reuters. The hospital's operations have been temporarily stopped.

- No one was injured, but we have decided to evacuate, says Klakesh.

AFP writes that two more hospitals in Lebanon have been closed after Israeli attacks.

During Friday morning, Lebanese health workers told The Guardian that Israel attacked medical centers, ambulances and medical personnel.

Israel has not commented on the incident or the allegations.

WHO's first aid delivery arrives in Lebanon

The WHO's first relief shipment of medical equipment has arrived in Beirut on Friday. That's what the organization's chairman Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus writes in a post on X.

He writes that the delivery is enough to care for tens of thousands of people and that two more planes are expected to land in Lebanon later on Friday and one during tomorrow.
1.2 million on the run – the UN warns of a lack of places

About 1.2 million people in Lebanon are displaced because of Israel's attacks on Hezbollah, according to the country's Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

- We are trying to deal with these problems, but to tell the truth, the most important thing in terms of security now is to arrange shelter and food and make sure that we can deal with the people who have been displaced, he says according to American ABC News.

At the same time, the UN refugee agency UNHCR states that almost all of Lebanon's 900 refugee camps established by the state are full. Spokesperson Rula Amin says there is concern that people on the run are being forced to sleep outside.

Health workers: Israel is attacking us on purpose

Health workers in Lebanon accuse Israel of specifically targeting medical workers, ambulances and medical centers.

Sayyed Abdullah, head of civil defense in southern Lebanon, told Sky News that 40 ambulances and 24 rescue stations were completely destroyed or hit in Israeli attacks.

- And then I only talk about our organization, he says.

Abdullah's colleague tells of a group of rescue workers who were attacked while trying to help people injured in a previous attack.

- The first team went to save them, and met. Another team went to rescue them, and was also hit. In the end, the Red Cross went to save them, and they too were attacked, says the man, who remains anonymous.

The Guardian has also spoken to rescue workers who testify to a similar pattern: every time they have arrived at a site to begin rescue efforts, Israeli airstrikes have occurred, they say.

In the past week, several Israeli rockets have struck near hospitals in southern Beirut, writes The Guardian. Israel's military denies deliberately attacking health workers and says it follows international law.
