Joe Biden was close to starting a nuclear war between Russia and NATO.

Putin's top man Dmitry Medvedev now claims this.

"At some point he completely lost track," he says.

The move from Moscow comes during Joe Biden's last day as US president.

Medvedev, former president and prime minister and current deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, believes that Biden has been "obsessed" with Ukraine for many years.

"Unhealthy interest"

He wrote this on Sunday in a post on Telegram, Newsweek reports.

According to Medvedev, Biden already had "an unhealthy interest" in Ukraine during his time as Obama's vice president.

“He then explained that he was only acting on Obama’s instructions,” Medvedev writes.

Later, this behavior, according to the Russian top, is said to have developed into a personal obsession “underpinned by political mistakes, pure corruption and poor judgment due to historical ignorance.”

Almost nuclear conflict

According to the security top, who threatened the West with a global nuclear conflict several times during the war, the US’s actions have come close to bringing the world to disaster.

“At some point, the old man got off track and basically started a war between the West and Russia. It almost led to a nuclear conflict with NATO,” Medvedev claims on Telegram.

“He has clearly been away recently. It is true that the war benefits the US economically, but the political price and the real danger of a deadly conflict are much more important. It is something the old man was not prepared for. This is an occasion when the leader of a great power completely lost control of the situation, which led to a crushing election loss for the Democrats”.

Wants to execute Zelenskyj

Donald Trump, who will be installed as the new US president on Monday, has criticized the multi-billion dollar American aid to Ukraine.

Medvedev has previously called for nuclear attacks on individual NATO countries and claimed that Russia has no other choice but to execute Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj.
