Trump: Hope there will be a Ukraine deal this week
The US has shown no major interest in the ceasefire that Putin announced on Saturday, but which never materialized.
On Sunday evening, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that he hopes Russia and Ukraine reach an agreement this week.
“Then both will do great business with the United States, which is thriving, and make a fortune!”
Earlier in the day, a spokesperson for the US State Department stated that it had noted the Russian announcement of a ceasefire, according to Reuters.
“We are investigating how serious they are and would welcome it extending beyond Sunday.”
Earlier this week, Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio signaled that the US would soon withdraw from the peace talks if they do not begin to yield results, but did not give an exact timeframe.

Ukraine's response
Ukraine demands apology from Fox – called Kyiv Russian
In an Easter broadcast on Sunday, the American news channel Fox News showed live celebrations in various European cities, including the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. However, the screen said that the city belongs to Russia.
The incorrect description remained for about 20 minutes, and now Ukraine wants an apology from Fox.
"If this was a mistake rather than a deliberate political stance, an apology should be issued and an investigation should be conducted to find out who committed it," writes State Department spokesman Heorhij Tychyj on X.
