Sources: New peace meeting with the US and Ukraine is expected
The US will likely participate in peace talks with Ukraine, the UK and France in London on Wednesday, informed sources told Bloomberg. The information was partially confirmed by Volodymyr Zelenskyj on X.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the two envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg are expected to meet with foreign ministers and national security advisers from the three other countries, the sources said.
The meeting in London is a supposed follow-up to the one held last week in Paris, where the US shared its proposals for a ceasefire and a peace agreement.
US President Donald Trump announced the following day that he is soon ready to give up on attempts at peace, and Marco Rubio has said that the US “in the next few days” needs to see that an agreement “can be reached in the short term”.
Putin claims: Positive to all peace initiatives
The fighting has resumed after Vladimir Putin's alleged ceasefire over Easter, the Russian president announced according to domestic media.
Putin says he is "positive" to all peace initiatives and says he is prepared to "analyze" Ukraine's latest proposal for a 30-day pause in attacks on civilian infrastructure.
At the same time, Putin, who has so far opposed all proposals for a ceasefire, claims that Ukraine's new proposal is just a way to take the military initiative, and he also claims that Ukraine is using civilian buildings for military purposes.
