Taiwan condemns Chinese exercises: “A troublemaker”
Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te condemns Chinese military exercises in the vicinity of the island, calling China a “troublemaker”.
“China’s blatant military provocations not only threaten peace in the Taiwan Strait but also undermine the security of the entire region,” the presidential palace wrote in a statement on X.
China does not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation and the Chinese military called Lai Ching-te a “parasite” in a statement in connection with the start of the military exercises.

The number of members of the Japanese yakuza reached the lowest level ever in 2024. This is reported by AFP, citing new figures from the Japanese police.
