Report: Action group could be branded a terrorist group
The
British government is planning to ban the pro-Palestinian action group
that sabotaged two British military aircraft at a military base, sources
have told The Guardian and the BBC.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper
is reportedly filing a letter that, if voted through in parliament,
would mean that the group “Palestine Action” would be branded a
terrorist group and criminalized.
The group published a clip on Friday morning that is said to show two activists putting the plane “out of commission”.
Activists in action against British military aircraft
Pro-Palestinian activists say they sabotaged two British air force aircraft, The Independent reports.
“From
Cyprus, British planes are gathering intelligence, refueling fighter
jets and transporting weapons for the genocide in Gaza,” writes the
activist group on X.
The two activists involved in the action
were reportedly able to leave the airport without being detected. It is
unclear exactly what the action consisted of, but judging from the video
shared on social media, they appear to have sprayed something on the
fuselage of the aircraft.
“We strongly condemn this vandalism of
Royal Air Force equipment. We are working closely with the police, who
are investigating the incident,” writes the British Ministry of Defense
in a press release.
