Three-hour meeting ends: “It’s a dangerous situation”
There are no signs that Friday’s meeting in Geneva between several European countries and Iran led to any breakthroughs. This is what Euronews writes after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, among others, commented on the development.
– We left the room with the impression that the Iranian side is prepared to continue talks on all important issues, says Wadephul after the meeting that lasted three hours.
Britain’s David Lammy says it is a “dangerous situation”.
– It is extremely important that we do not see a regional escalation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also hopes for new meetings in the near future. According to Reuters, the European ministers urged Iran to negotiate with the United States about the country’s nuclear program.
Iranian rockets at Haifa – several people injured
Iran has fired rockets at Israel on Friday afternoon Swedish time, several media outlets report.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet secretary, Yossi Fuchs, says according to the New York Times that 35 rockets were fired from Iran. Images on Israeli television show smoke rising from the port city of Haifa.
- We are going from building to building to assess the damage, says the city's deputy mayor.
17 people have been injured, three of them seriously, writes Haaretz.
Sources: Hegseth on the bench as Trump makes a decision
Donald Trump has reshuffled his circle of advisors ahead of his decision on whether the United States should carry out an attack on Iran or not, according to NBC News sources. The circle has been expanded in some areas, but shrunk in others.
According to the information, the president does not consult with the director of intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, nor is Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth consulted to the same extent as others in the administration.
However, this is denied by Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnel.
– The claim is completely false.
