Middle East crisis Israel vs Iran

“Putin’s Brain”: The US has started World War III

The US attacks on Iran have started World War III. This is what Russian ideologist Alexandr Dugin claims in a column published by the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.

According to Dugin, the attacks on nuclear facilities show that the international community is no longer able to prevent attacks that could potentially lead to nuclear disasters and that nuclear weapons no longer have any deterrent effect. This will ultimately lead to the weapons being used in war, according to Dugin.

“So many red lines have been crossed that it is unclear whether there are any left,” he writes.

Alexandr Dugin is a Russian ultranationalist and far-right ideologue who is frequently referred to as “Putin’s Brain.” However, it has proven difficult to prove what influence, if any, he actually has on the Russian president.

Israel attacks Iran with “unprecedented force” – strikes Fordow again

Israel has attacked the Fordow nuclear facility in Iran on Monday morning, Iranian media reported. It also reportedly hit the university in Tehran, according to a student newspaper.

The Iranian Red Crescent aid organization reports that Israeli shelling has also hit near their building in Tehran.

“We are currently striking regime targets and state organs of oppression in the heart of Tehran with unprecedented force,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Israel said it had attacked six air bases in Iran overnight. 15 Iranian planes and helicopters were reportedly destroyed, and according to the Israeli military, runways and bunkers at the airports were also damaged. The attacks were reportedly carried out using remote-controlled drones.

On Monday morning, air raid sirens sounded across large parts of Israel after Iran fired missiles again. AFP writes that its reporters on the ground in Jerusalem received notifications on their phones urging them to seek shelter.

Al Jazeera reports that impacts have been heard in Ashdod and just outside Jerusalem. The damage is still unclear.

Iran's Evin prison hit in Israeli attack – drawing harsh criticism from relatives

An Israeli attack has hit the notorious Evin prison in Iran, Iranian state television reports, according to AP. Israel confirms the attack.

The prison houses political prisoners, including the Swedish-Iranian researcher Ahmadreza Djalali. Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi was released from prison last year for medical reasons.

An Iranian newspaper describes the building as "destroyed", but the details are currently unclear.

“We haven’t heard anything, we don’t know if they are still alive, we are panicking,” Noemie Kohler, sister of Frenchwoman Cecile Kohler who is in Evin Prison, told AFP.

She said Israel’s attack was “completely irresponsible” and put the prisoners’ lives at risk.
