IAEA: US Probably Did “Very Significant” Damage
The US attacks on the Iranian nuclear facility at Fordow probably caused significant damage, Rafael Grossi, head of the UN nuclear agency, told Reuters.
– Given the explosive charge used and the extremely vibration-sensitive nature of the centrifuges, very significant damage can be expected.
However, he points out that no one, “not even the IAEA”, can know for sure without having examined the underground conditions of the buried facility.
Trump: “Direct hit” on Iran’s nuclear facilities
Donald Trump dismisses speculation that the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities failed to knock them out.
“Monumental damage to all nuclear facilities in Iran, as satellite images show. Annihilation is the right word!” Donald Trump writes on Truth social.
Satellite images of the Fordow facility, taken after the attack, show several holes in the ground believed to be where the “bunker-busting” bombs hit. However, no obvious damage is visible on the part of the facility that is above ground.
“Most of the damage occurred underground. A direct hit!” Trump writes.
The United States attacked three facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear program during the night of Sunday. Independent sources have not yet been able to verify the severity of the damage. Iran has stated, among other things, that it moved large parts of the uranium that had been enriched at the Fordow facility before the attack.
Sources: Iran threatened to activate terrorist cells in the United States before the attack
Iran has threatened to activate dormant terrorist cells in the United States if the country’s nuclear facilities are attacked, sources tell NBC News.
The threat was allegedly made through an intermediary during the G7 meeting in Canada last week, days before the US struck precisely such facilities.
According to the TV channel's sources, the threat was the reason why Donald Trump left the meeting early.
Iran stated on Monday that it believes the US "failed diplomacy" when it attacked at the same time as it was negotiating the country's nuclear energy program.
- Neither we nor future generations will forget that Iran was in the middle of a diplomatic process with a country that is now at war with us, says Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.
