Middle East crisis Reactions to Israel-Iran

Putin hopeful about Iran: “A solution can be found”

Vladimir Putin believes that there is a possibility of ending the fighting between Israel and Iran. At a press conference on Wednesday evening, the Russian president stated that he believes in a solution that guarantees both Israel's security and Iran's hope for a nuclear energy program.

– This is a sensitive issue and we must of course be very careful, but in my opinion a solution can be found, he said according to AFP.

Putin also said that Russia will continue to stand behind Iran's work on its nuclear energy program. Israel states that the purpose of their attacks is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, an accusation that the regime denies.

Sources: Gabbard and Trump disagree – has been “benched”

US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard does not agree with Donald Trump on how the administration should deal with Iran. This is stated by several sources with insight to NBC News.

Gabbard has long been critical of American military interventions abroad, and a possible American operation in Iran she is strictly against – it has led to friction with the president's team, the sources say.

In March, when Gabbard was questioned by Congress, she said that US intelligence agencies do not believe that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. A statement that went against the administration's rhetoric and that Donald Trump denied yesterday.

– I don't care what she said. I think they are very close to having a nuclear weapon, he said at the time.

Several sources now state that Gabbard has been "benched" from the administration's discussions about the conflict between Israel and Iran.

US moves ships – signs that Iran attack is being considered

The US military has moved some aircraft and ships from bases in the Middle East, as they could be vulnerable to a possible attack from Iran. This is reported by two US sources to Reuters.

In addition, the USS Nimitz, one of the eleven US aircraft carriers with nuclear power, abruptly changed direction earlier this week. On Monday, it turned away from the South China Sea towards the Middle East, writes the Financial Times and describes it as the clearest signal yet that President Donald Trump is considering an attack on Iran.

It could take up to a week for the Nimitz battle group to join another US battle group with destroyers in the region, the newspaper's sources say.

Confirmed: Iran talks to be held in Geneva tomorrow

Iran and representatives from the EU will discuss the Iranian nuclear program tomorrow, Friday. This is confirmed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, according to Reuters.

The talks will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, and in addition to Araqchi, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Britain will participate, as well as the EU foreign ministers.

At the same time, Iran and Israel continue to attack each other from the air. Israel's motive is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

The US is considering intervening militarily. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas still believes that diplomacy is the way to stop nuclear weapons development in Iran, writes AFP.
