Middle East Crisis US vs Iran

President: Iran has stopped cooperation with IAEA

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has formally decided that the country will stop cooperating with the UN nuclear agency IAEA, Reuters reports.

“The pause will continue until certain requirements are met, including security guarantees for our nuclear facilities and researchers,” says the bill that was voted through by the Iranian parliament, and which is also believed to have received support from the country’s Security Council.

However, a diplomat with insight tells Reuters that IAEA inspectors are still in Iran and have not been asked to leave the country. The news agency also points out that Iran has previously used threats to stop cooperating with the IAEA in negotiations with the outside world.

Pentagon goes against Trump: Iran's nuclear program lost two years of progress

The Pentagon says that the US bombing of Iran's nuclear program wiped out between one and two years of progress on the program, Reuters reports.

Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesman, says the estimate is closer to two years than one.

The statement contradicts what President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have said about the attacks. They have talked about Iran losing decades of progress.

CNN and the New York Times were able to report last week on a report from the US military intelligence service that assesses that the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities did no major damage. The report has been dismissed as "false and unpatriotic" by Trump.
