Ukraine: Not informed about US ceasefire

Ukraine has not received any official information about the US decision to stop certain arms deliveries to the country. This is stated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in a statement, according to Reuters. It has now asked its contacts in the US to explain the matter over the phone.

The White House confirmed early this morning that the US has stopped the delivery of, among other things, air defense missiles to Ukraine. The reason is stated to be that an inventory has concluded that the American stocks are starting to run out.

US stops promised deliveries to Ukraine

The US is stopping promised deliveries of certain types of air defense missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine, the White House announces.

According to Politico, the decision was made in early June, after Pentagon policy director Elbridge Colby raised the alarm during an internal review that the US weapons stockpile was starting to run low.

White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly says they have decided to put US interests first after the inspection.

– The US military is undoubtedly still strong – just ask Iran, she adds.

When Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyj met with Donald Trump during the NATO summit last week, they talked about arms deliveries.

– They want those "anti-robot robots", as they call them, and we'll see if we can make some available. But they're hard to get, Trump said after the meeting.

Record number of Russian attacks in June

Russia dramatically stepped up its attacks on Ukraine in June, according to an AFP analysis of Ukrainian air defense data. According to the analysis, Russia launched 5,438 long-range drones, which is more than in any previous month since the full-scale invasion began.

The figure also represents a 37 percent increase from May, when Russia, according to Ukraine, launched 3,974 drones.

Russian use of missiles also increased in June, and was used 239 times in night attacks - almost twice as often as the previous month.

Ukraine, according to its own statement, managed to shoot down 86 percent of the drones and missiles. At the same time, it continues to appeal for help from allies.
